The importance of hedgerows

Why are hedgerows important?

Hedgerows have been part of our country for hundreds and hundreds of years but many were removed or cut before and after WWII, due to agricultural practices and needs. Although things are a little better now, hedgerows are still at risk and need to be looked after - so that they can continue to clean our air and help to reduce flooding.

Hedgerows are really important for lots of wildlife too and you can find out what might happen if they lost their homes by listening to Clive tell you the story of the Higglety-pigglety hedge...
